• Hello. I love Pixels.

I'm a professional web designer, webmaster, front-end web developer, illustrator, and video editor. I am also Creative Director of a small design firm called Ruderstudios based in Altadena, California.

My niche area over the past 4 years has become websites for small community-focused businesses with a focus on health and wellness. However, my background extends to many businesses and technologies over the past twenty years in the field of interactive digital design. I am passionate about what I do and am accustomed to collaborating in a high-paced, multi-tasking, creative environment with a geeky flair.

  • Enough about me...what do you think about me?

I started out my career in the dinosaur age - not actually that long ago in tech terms - but in the pre-internet browser days of the print publishing world as a magazine layout/design director.

It was a trade journal run out of the second story of a brownstone painted bright purple and pink in Adam's Morgan, DC called "Current:for People in Public Telecommunications." It was a small enough company that I was able to wear many and almost all hats: print specialist, circulation manager, network designer, illustrator and linotype liaison. No, I did not handle led type but I knew people who still did! As the Macintosh and PC came onto the scene and publishing moved to the desktop, I dove into exploring connectivity and WYZYWIG. I wasted no time crossing over to the digital world, and throughout the 90s I absorbed like a sponge all things publishing, animation and video editing software. I love Photoshop, HTML, CSS, Wordpress and all internet innovations. I started my own company Drennan Design, freelanced as an animator, designer and interactive media artist for 10 years. Many exciting things were happening in the field of video compression and broadband and DSL were all hot topics. My main client was Verizon for 7 years. I designed kiosks and "protoypes" for future video-on-demand delivery but the bottleneck was compression standards for sending data. WIth MPEG and Mozilla arriving on the scene, things were about to change in a big way. And they did in my personal life as well....In 2001, I took some time off to be a stay@home mom and try my hand at being interactive with small children. In 2010, my husband, Tim, and our family moved from Washington, DC to Los Angeles and in our spare time when we are not being nerds we LOVE to hike with our three not-so-small kids and our dog Rilee, listen to music and go camping.
